Why choose our school?

Welcome to Lake Illawarra High School

Located on the picturesque foreshores of Lake Illawarra and proudly situated on the traditional lands of the Wadi Wadi people, Lake Illawarra High School is a vibrant, comprehensive secondary school dedicated to fostering growth, learning, and excellence for every student. We are also home an Inclusive Education Centre (Lake Hub and Harbour Hub) providing tailored support to meet diverse learning needs for students in a supported setting.

At Lake Illawarra High School, we celebrate a broad spectrum of student abilities by offering a rich and diverse curriculum alongside a wide array of extracurricular opportunities. Our state-of-the-art technology resources and industry-standard vocational training facilities empower students to engage deeply and practically with their learning. Our committed educators employ best teaching practices within a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment to ensure every student experiences a high-quality education. We are passionate about inspiring students to be curious, motivated, and lifelong learners.

Beyond the classroom, students can explore and excel through extracurricular programs in Sport, Leadership, Technology, and the Creative and Performing Arts. As proud members of the Illawarra Academy of STEM Excellence, our students connect with leading industry partners, enriching their learning and opening pathways to future careers. Our Clontarf Academy supports our First Nations students by nurturing their talents and providing ongoing opportunities for success.

As an active member of the Lake Learning Community, we collaborate closely with our partner primary schools and wider community to promote evidence-based teaching practices, ensuring smooth transitions from primary to high school, and championing the wellbeing and academic growth of every learner.

We are dedicated to developing responsible, compassionate citizens who honour themselves and the community, and who are resilient in facing the challenges of an ever-changing world. Our school motto, “Seek the Truth,” encourages students to critically explore and understand the world around them. I am honoured to lead a school that embraces a safe and caring culture where all students are empowered to reach their fullest potential through positive and enriching educational experiences.
